Satellite Imagery Reveals Devastation from Recent Conflict
A collection of satellite images has been compiled by Al Jazeera’s Open Source Unit, showing 15 sites across Iran, Lebanon, and the Gulf region that have been affected by recent attacks. The images were captured before and after the conflicts, providing a visual record of the destruction.
The Natanz complex in Isfahan province, Iran’s largest uranium enrichment facility, was struck twice in June 2025, with satellite imagery showing direct structural damage to buildings and entrance pathways following joint US-Israeli air attacks. The Siri Island oil facilities were also targeted, with a huge fire observed at one of the storage tanks.
In Bandar Abbas, an Iranian port city near the Strait of Hormuz, extensive destruction was reported across 11 locations within the complex. Fath Air Base, located near Karaj about 35km west of Tehran, suffered significant damage to its northern hangars and technical facilities.
Other affected sites include the Bandar Abbas Naval Base, where a direct hit was observed at the “IRIS Makran” vessel; Naqoura in southwestern Lebanon, which saw extensive destruction across the area; and Bint Jbeil, where severe damage was reported to approximately 725 buildings and facilities.
The satellite imagery was captured by companies such as Planet Labs, Airbus, Sentinel, and Vantor, before Washington requested an indefinite blackout on images of the conflict.
