Ukrainians Observe National Holiday on Ukrainian National Flag Day
On Sunday, Ukrainians marked the fifth year of their ongoing conflict with Russia by observing a national holiday. The event, known as Ukrainian National Flag Day, was established in 2004 and is meant to promote patriotism among citizens.
During the ceremony, participants raised the Ukrainian flag, observed a minute of silence for those killed in the war, sang the country’s national anthem, and listened to patriotic and folk songs performed by a military orchestra. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended ceremonies in Kyiv, where he addressed military personnel.
According to official reports, the president stated that the flag “symbolises what is most precious” to the thousands of soldiers defending Ukraine. The holiday was established on August 23, 2004, one day before Ukraine’s Independence Day.
The event was held across the country, with various ceremonies and activities taking place in different locations. The Ukrainian National Flag Day has become an annual tradition, serving as a reminder of the country’s history and national identity.
