Real Madrid sends Vinicius evidence to UEFA regarding alleged racism allegations

Real Madrid Forward Accuses Benfica Player of Racist Insult in Champions League Match

Vinicius Jr, a Brazilian forward for Real Madrid, has alleged that he was racially abused by Gianluca Prestianni, a player for Benfica, during a Champions League match on Tuesday. The incident occurred after Vinicius scored the only goal in Real Madrid’s 1-0 win against Benfica at the Stadium of Light.

According to reports, Prestianni allegedly used a racial slur towards Vinicius as he celebrated near the Benfica corner flag. However, Prestianni has denied making any racist comments, claiming that he covered his mouth with his shirt during the incident.

Real Madrid has submitted “all available evidence” to UEFA, the governing body of European football, regarding the alleged incident. The club stated that it has actively collaborated with the investigation opened by UEFA and expressed its appreciation for the support received from the global football community.

Benfica has responded to the allegations, stating that Prestianni was the victim of a “defamation campaign” and welcomed the investigation into the matter. FIFA President Gianni Infantino also commented on the incident, expressing his shock and sadness at the alleged racism and praising the referee for activating the antiracism protocol during the match.

UEFA has appointed a special investigator to gather evidence about the incident and will continue to investigate the allegations.
