Christian Pulisic Substituted in US Win Over Paraguay at World Cup
US forward Christian Pulisic was substituted at half-time during the team’s 4-1 win over Paraguay in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup co-hosted by the United States. According to Pulisic, he was taken off as a precautionary measure after receiving a minor injury.
Pulisic stated that he had received a kick in the leg area and was taking a “little bit of precaution” to ensure his health. He expressed confidence that the injury would not be serious, citing previous experiences with similar injuries.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that Pulisic’s substitution was made to avoid any potential risks. The US team is set to face Australia in their next match on Friday in Seattle, followed by a final group stage match against Turkey on June 25.
The convincing win has propelled the US to the top of Group D with three points, while Paraguay sits at the bottom. The remaining teams in the group will face each other later on Saturday, with the top two teams from each group and the eight best third-placed teams advancing to the knockout stage.
Pulisic’s performance was notable, providing an assist and contributing to Paraguay’s own goal during a dominant first half. He also expressed his optimism about the team’s chances, stating that “there’s a lot more that we still have to do” to achieve their goals.
