Initially, some fans jeered Vinicius whenever he touched the ball, but the boos dissipated as the match progressed and were largely absent by the time he scored in the 63rd minute. This marked a significant shift in fan sentiment towards Vinicius, who has been struggling with form this season.

Vinicius’s goal was followed by two more from Kylian Mbappe, who also assisted on Franco Mastantuoni’s score in the 51st minute. Thilo Kehrer scored an own-goal for Monaco in the 55th minute, further increasing Real Madrid’s lead.

The match saw a banner held by a fan reading “Vini, we are behind you,” which reflected the growing support for Vinicius among fans. Mbappe and new coach Alvaro Arbeloa had recently defended Vinicius against criticism from some fans, with Mbappe stating that the crowd should not single out Vinicius as the cause of the team’s struggles.

The match also saw a moment of silence before kickoff in honor of the victims of a recent train crash in southern Spain. Jude Bellingham scored Real Madrid’s sixth goal in the 80th minute, securing the team’s victory.
