Israeli forces fatally shoot Palestinian man in occupied West Bank territory

Israeli Forces Report Fatal Shooting in West Bank, Settlements Continue to Expand

A Palestinian man, Ammar Hijazi, 34, from Nablus, has been fatally shot by Israeli forces north of Ramallah, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The incident occurred on Sunday.

Separately, a child was detained by Israeli soldiers in the village of Mukhmas in the central West Bank, as reported by Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency.

The Israeli military has intensified its operations in the occupied West Bank, with settlers also continuing to carry out attacks on Palestinians. The expansion of settlements in the territory is ongoing, despite being considered illegal under international law.

In recent days, settlers have been involved in violent incidents, including an assault on a Palestinian family near Hebron that resulted in injuries to one woman. The Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has approved the issuance of gun licenses to Israelis in 18 additional settlements in the West Bank.

The expansion of settlements and military operations in the region have raised concerns about the prospects for a two-state solution.
