Iran has launched missile and drone attacks across the Gulf region, including a US base in Kuwait. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that it fired four missiles at the headquarters of US forces in the Middle East, targeting Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. Authorities in Kuwait have not confirmed these reports.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Defence reported intercepting a new missile attack aimed at the Gulf nation. Saudi Arabia’s Defence Ministry said it destroyed five drones heading towards its Shaybah oilfield in the Empty Quarter desert. Bahrain reported that Iranian attacks wounded dozens, including children, in Sitra near Manama, with a fire breaking out at a Ma’ameer facility after a drone strike.
The United Arab Emirates also responded to incoming missiles and drone threats from Iran, with two drones falling in the vicinity of Dubai International airport. The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported an unknown projectile striking a container vessel, setting it on fire, in the Strait of Hormuz. A second vessel was hit by an unknown projectile 50 nautical miles northwest of Dubai.
The United Nations Security Council is set to vote later today on a resolution sponsored by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) demanding that Iran stop attacking its Arab neighbours. The GCC bid urges Iran to halt attacks on its neighbours, amid rising tensions over a global energy crisis.
