Democratic Republic of Congo Files Case Against Rwanda at International Court of Justice
The Democratic Republic of Congo has filed a case against Rwanda at the International Court of Justice, alleging that its neighbour is directly involved in the conflict in eastern provinces. The DRC claims that Rwanda has mobilised forces and backed armed groups to carry out operations within its territory.
According to Kinshasa, the move aims to hold Kigali accountable for these activities and seek reparations for victims and the government. The court case seeks to force Rwanda to cease such actions.
Tensions between the two countries remain high, with some nations outside the region attempting to mediate a resolution. The involvement of the International Court of Justice may potentially impact these efforts.
The DRC has been accusing Rwanda of direct involvement in the conflict for years. The dispute centres on allegations that Rwanda-backed armed groups have carried out illegal operations within the DRC’s territory.
Rwanda has not commented on the case, but the move by Kinshasa is seen as a significant development in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
