Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi subpoenaed by US government committee

US House Oversight Committee Votes to Subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi

The US House of Representatives Oversight Committee has voted to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi, requiring her to provide testimony regarding the Department of Justice’s management of records linked to the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The motion, introduced by Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace, passed with a vote of 24-19, including five Republicans joining Democrats in supporting the subpoena.

The committee is seeking clarification on how sensitive files were handled, archived, or potentially withheld during the long-running probe into Epstein’s illicit network. Bondi will testify about missing evidence, including videos, audio, and documents allegedly being hidden by the DOJ.

This move comes amid ongoing criticism of the administration’s handling of the Epstein investigation, which began more than a year ago. The Justice Department has faced allegations of over-redacting files and failing to provide transparency, with some lawmakers expressing frustration over the lack of new revelations despite a massive document release.

Bondi has defended the DOJ’s handling of the files, accusing Democrats of stoking controversy to divert attention from President Trump’s accomplishments. However, some Republican lawmakers have also expressed concerns about the perceived lack of transparency and the absence of new revelations.

The subpoena comes after the Justice Department announced it was investigating whether documents were improperly withheld from the files. Former US Presidents Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton recently appeared for closed-door depositions before the committee, addressing their connections to Epstein.
