Syrian Army Engages in Clashes with SDF Near Prison Housing ISIL Detainees
A military confrontation has occurred between the Syrian government forces and a Kurdish-led militia group, the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces), near a prison facility that houses individuals detained by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
According to reports, the clashes took place in the vicinity of the prison, which is believed to be located in the eastern part of Syria. The exact location of the incident has not been confirmed.
The SDF, a predominantly Kurdish-led militia group, has been involved in various military operations against ISIL in Syria since 2012. The Syrian government forces, on the other hand, have been engaged in a long-standing conflict with various rebel groups and ISIL-affiliated organizations.
The prison facility in question is believed to be housing ISIL detainees who were captured during the group’s territorial control in Syria. The exact number of detainees held at the facility has not been disclosed.
Eyewitnesses report that the clashes between the Syrian army forces and the SDF have resulted in significant damage to surrounding infrastructure, including buildings and roads. The extent of the damage is currently unknown.
The cause of the clashes remains unclear, but it is believed that they may be related to a dispute over control of the prison facility or its surroundings. Further information on the incident is not available at this time.
