WeatherTech founder tapped for top consumer protection post
A presidential nomination has been made to the Federal Trade Commission, citing an unconventional candidate with a background in manufacturing and commitment to domestic production. The President’s selection is WeatherTech founder and CEO David MacNeil, who founded the company that produces weather-resistant car floor mats in 1989. As the sole owner of the company, WeatherTech prioritizes maintaining its US-based manufacturing operations. This stance has garnered praise from FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson, who commended MacNeil as an “outstanding businessman and great patriot” after sharing a segment where he discussed his commitment to domestic production. If confirmed, MacNeil would become the third member of the Federal Trade Commission with ties to industry or business, reflecting the growing emphasis on understanding consumer markets.
