PEGI Age Rating System to Restrict Loot Boxes in New Games
The Pan-European Game Information (PEGI) body has updated its age rating system to include interactive features such as loot boxes, which will now be considered when assigning ratings to new games. This means that future releases of EA’s FC series, including the popular Ultimate Team mode featuring virtual card packs, are expected to carry a PEGI 16 rating instead of the current PEGI 3, making them unsuitable for children under 16. The changes take effect from June and will apply to new games submitted for classification after this date.
