Lego Smart Bricks' Initial Release Falls Short Due to Technical Limitations
The first Lego Smart Brick sets, based on Star Wars franchises, failed to meet expectations for their kids due to programming issues; however, technical limitations may also be a contributing factor. Upon release, several sensors including a sound-detecting microphone, ambient light sensor, fine distance measurement, position, and orientation are not enabled. Lego Smart Brick sound designer Elysha Zaide acknowledged this in a recent livestream, mentioning that the missing out-of-the-gate features include ambient light, position, and orientation. However, it is anticipated that these sensors will be unlocked with future product releases.
