Grammarly Faces Lawsuit Over Identity Theft AI Feature
Journalist Julia Angwin has filed a class-action complaint against Grammarly, alleging that the company violated her privacy and publicity rights by using her identity in its “Expert Review” AI feature without consent. Angwin claims she discovered her likeness was being used through another journalist, Casey Newton, who also falls under the same category as The Verge’s previous reports on Grammarly using identities of experts for commercial purposes.
