FCC Bans Foreign-Made Consumer Routers from US Market
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has imposed a ban on the importation of consumer routers made outside the United States, citing an unacceptable risk to national security and safety. Effective immediately, all foreign-made consumer networking gear will be prohibited from entering the US market unless the manufacturer obtains prior FCC authorization. Existing router users can continue to use their devices, while companies that have already secured FCC radio authorization for specific products may still import those items. However, this new regulation aims to protect American consumers from potential security threats posed by unregulated foreign-made equipment.
