Cotton Industry Pushes for Revival in US Fashion
The US government has launched a campaign to promote domestic cotton production and reduce reliance on foreign synthetic materials, aiming to make cotton a more significant player in the country’s textile industry. In an effort to boost American cotton farming, the Department of Agriculture has announced subsidies for farmers, with the goal of revitalizing the sector and reducing dependence on imported fabrics. The initiative, dubbed “the Great American Cotton Plan,” is part of a broader push by the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement to promote domestic production of essential goods, including food and textiles. According to Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, the MAHA movement aims to create a more self-sufficient economy by supporting domestic industries such as agriculture and textile manufacturing.
