Amazon Prime Video's ad-free plan is getting a price hike, with the new Ultra tier costing $4.99 per month in the US.
Amazon Prime Video is introducing a new pricing structure for its ad-free plan in the United States, which will become effective on April 10th. The updated plan, dubbed “Ultra,” will now cost $4.99 per month, up from the current price of $2.99. This change reflects a shift away from the ad-supported model that was introduced two years ago and is currently available to standard Amazon Prime subscribers. In addition to the increased monthly fee, the new Ultra tier will offer several enhancements over the existing ad-free plan. These include the ability to stream content in 4K/UHD quality without interruptions, as well as support for up to five simultaneous streams, an increase from three previously. Furthermore, users on the Ultra tier can download up to 100 titles at once, a significant upgrade from the previous limit of 25 downloads. The introduction of the Ultra tier aims to provide Prime Video subscribers with more options and flexibility when it comes to their viewing experience. While the new pricing structure may be seen as an increase by some users, those who opt for the ad-free plan can look forward to enhanced features and a higher level of quality.
