White House advises Iran to consider peace offer amidst military expansion

US and Iranian Officials Engage in Indirect Talks Amid Escalating Tensions

The United States and Iran have held a second round of indirect talks this month, with officials from both sides offering differing accounts of the discussions. According to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, Iran would be “wise” to make a deal with the US administration.

US Vice President JD Vance stated that Iran had yet to respond to all of Washington’s “red lines”. In contrast, Iranian officials claimed that both parties had agreed on “guiding principles”.

The Trump administration has reiterated its demands for Iran to accede to US requirements. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said, “Iran would be very wise to make a deal with President Trump and with his administration.”

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright warned that Washington would deter Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons “one way or the other”. He stated, “They’ve been very clear about what they would do with nuclear weapons. It’s entirely unacceptable.”

The US has surged military assets to the Middle East, including an aircraft carrier and destroyers, in response to escalating tensions. The Pentagon reported that nine destroyers and three littoral combat ships were already deployed in the region.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country did not want war but would not give in to US demands. He said, “From the day I took office, I have believed that war must be set aside.”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has previously warned that any new US strikes would lead to wider regional escalation.

The situation remains tense, with both sides engaging in a series of veiled threats and diplomatic efforts.
