Houston Rockets Beat Golden State Warriors in San Francisco
The Houston Rockets defeated the Golden State Warriors 117-116 in a closely contested match at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Sunday night. Stephen Curry made his return to action after a two-month absence, scoring 29 points in his first game back as a member of the Rockets.
Kevin Durant led the Rockets with a game-high 31 points, eight assists, and eight rebounds. Alperen Sengun capped off his 24-point performance with a go-ahead interior hoop with 11.1 seconds remaining, securing the team’s victory.
The Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski provided support for Curry with 18 points. The Rockets have moved within one game of the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets in their pursuit of third place in the Western Conference.
Jabari Smith Jr., Amen Thompson, and Reed Sheppard contributed to the Rockets’ sixth consecutive win. Curry played 26 minutes, shooting 11 of his 21 attempts from the field. The Warriors have virtually secured the 10th seed in the Western play-in tournament.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr praised Curry’s return, stating that it was a special night for the team and their fans. However, he noted that the plan for Curry’s minutes would be adjusted due to the team’s upcoming schedule, which includes five games in eight days with back-to-back contests.
