Tehran, Iran – Iranian authorities have announced plans to enhance their defensive capabilities amid heightened tensions with the United States. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet with Turkish officials on Friday as part of efforts to strengthen regional ties.
The US has maintained a military presence near Iranian waters, with the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier leading the deployment. In response, Iran’s top authorities have emphasized their commitment to defense, stating that the country’s priority is readiness rather than negotiations with the US.
Kazem Gharibabadi, a senior member of the Iranian negotiating team, stated that messages have been exchanged with the US through intermediaries, but Iran would remain prepared to defend itself in the event of an attack. The country has recently conducted numerous military exercises and announced the addition of 1,000 new drones to its forces.
The Iranian army has also highlighted its capabilities, stating that its agenda includes maintaining strategic advantages for fast combat and a decisive response to any aggression. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has previously demonstrated its ability to endure attacks and launch ballistic and cruise missiles at Israel and US assets across the region.
Iranian citizens have expressed varying views on the situation, with some supporting the government’s stance and others expressing concerns about the potential consequences of conflict.
