Two people injured in Portland, Oregon, shooting involving US federal agents

Federal Agents Injure Two People in Portland Shooting Incident

A shooting incident occurred in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday, resulting in the injury of two people. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents were involved in the incident.

According to reports, federal immigration authorities claimed to have fired upon a vehicle in self-defence after a reported confrontation with a passenger affiliated with a “transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring”. The driver was described as a member of this Venezuelan gang. The FBI stated that the shooting remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Emergency responders were called to assist two people with apparent gunshot wounds, who were found near Northeast 146th Avenue and East Burnside in Portland’s Hazelwood neighbourhood. The victims were transported to hospital, but their conditions remain unknown.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a statement describing the shooting as self-defence during a “targeted vehicle stop”. The incident occurred just one day after an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot and killed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
