Twelve people killed in plane crash in Missouri

A plane crashed near Butler Memorial Airport in Bates County, Missouri, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people. According to authorities, the incident occurred on Sunday and involved skydivers as passengers.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that troopers were assisting local law enforcement agencies at the scene. The highway patrol stated that all occupants of the plane had perished. Sergeant Justin Ewing of the Missouri Highway Patrol confirmed that the plane was taking people to skydive locations when it crashed.

Emergency responders received a call about a downed plane engulfed in fire around 11:30 am local time on Sunday. They extinguished the fire shortly after the crash, describing the scene as “brutal.” The plane landed in a field adjacent to the airport, and the roadway was temporarily closed for safety reasons.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the cause of the crash, which has not been disclosed yet. The identities of those killed have not been released.
