Three Palestinians killed in overnight Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip

Seven Palestinians have been killed and seven others wounded in Israeli attacks across different areas of the Gaza Strip, according to medical sources. The incidents occurred overnight into Sunday, targeting various neighborhoods in Rafah, Khan Younis, Zeitoun, and other areas.

In one incident, an Israeli quadcopter struck a Palestinian man who was being transported to a hospital in Khan Younis. Two men were also killed by Israeli military gunfire east of the Zeitoun neighborhood. The Israeli army reported that its forces had killed three Palestinians in southern and northern Gaza neighborhoods, citing them as posing a threat to Israeli forces.

Additionally, a seven-day-old infant died due to extreme cold temperatures in Deir el-Balah, central Gaza. Temperatures have dropped to 9 degrees Celsius at night in recent days, with many shelters made of thin canvas and plastic sheets offering little protection from strong winds and rain.

The Gaza Civil Defence has warned of a “catastrophe” due to damage caused by low-pressure systems affecting temporary shelters. The organization is urging citizens to secure their tents to prevent them from being blown away. Israel continues to block or limit the entry of vital necessities, including building materials, in violation of its ceasefire agreement with Hamas and international law obligations.

According to the United Nations, nearly 80 percent of buildings in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged by Israeli forces during its ongoing conflict, leaving hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
