Ten people killed in shooting at Tumbler Ridge in British Columbia

Ten people have been killed in a shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, Canada. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that six individuals were found deceased inside the school, while another person died en route to hospital. Two more bodies were discovered at a residence believed to be connected to the incident.
According to the RCMP, an “active shooter” was involved at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, and one individual believed to be the shooter was also found deceased with what appears to be a self-inflicted injury. Two people were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, while approximately 25 others received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.
All students and staff were safely evacuated from the school, and police are working closely with the school district to facilitate a coordinated reunification process for families. British Columbia Premier David Eby described the incident as an “unimaginable tragedy” and pledged that the government would provide every possible support to community members in the coming days.
The town of Tumbler Ridge, located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, has a population of fewer than 3,000 people. The incident is being investigated by the RCMP.
