Ukraine-Russia Talks Underway as Conflict Enters 1,429th Day
Negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian delegations have commenced in the United Arab Emirates, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirming that his team is en route to participate in talks with Russian and US negotiating teams. The meetings are part of an effort to explore potential avenues for ending the conflict.
Separately, a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoys took place on Thursday, as per Kremlin reports. The discussion centered on a plan to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump reiterated that both Putin and Zelenskyy expressed interest in reaching a deal to conclude the conflict, which has lasted nearly four years. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed concerns about Putin’s involvement in Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace,” citing his role in waging war on a European country.
Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated that recent disagreements between the US and the European Union have had a significant impact on the bloc’s relations. The EU is set to convene an emergency meeting to address these issues.
The conflict has now entered its 1,429th day, with ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine remaining a pressing concern.
