Real Madrid to consider Jose Mourinho return under new president

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez Announces Plans to Rehire Jose Mourinho if Elected

In a social media video campaign announcement, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez stated that he would rehire Jose Mourinho as manager if he wins Sunday’s presidential election. The clip featured Mourinho simply saying “Yes!” and included the slogan “So MOUch history to be made,” a nod to the Portuguese coach who previously managed the club.

Perez is facing challenger Enrique Riquelme in the first contested election in 20 years. If elected, Perez plans to bring back Mourinho, who has been out of management since leaving Chelsea in 2013. The move comes after Real Madrid’s disappointing domestic campaign, which saw Barcelona secure consecutive league titles and the club exit Europe’s top club competition at the quarterfinal stage.

Mourinho’s managerial record includes winning the League Cup and Europa League with Manchester United, as well as leading AS Roma to a Conference League title. He previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, during which time he won one La Liga title, a Copa del Rey, and a Spanish Super Cup.

Riquelme has announced his own plans for the club, stating that he would sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri as his first signing if elected. He also aims to target Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and former forward Raul as sports director. Perez’s announcement was made while Riquelme appeared on Spanish television program El Hormiguero, where he discussed his plans for the club.
