Pakistan defeats US in cricket match to avenge past loss

Pakistan Regains Form with Win Over United States at 2026 T20 World Cup

In a Group A match at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo, Pakistan defeated the United States by 32 runs in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The win marked a significant turnaround for Pakistan after their shock defeat to the USA two years ago.

Pakistan’s opener Sahibzada Farhan scored a half-century, hitting five sixes and six fours off 41 balls, while spinner Usman Tariq took three wickets for 27 runs. This helped Pakistan post a total of 190-9 in 20 overs. Babar Azam also contributed with a 46-ball innings, scoring four fours and one six.

The USA’s batting lineup struggled to cope with the Pakistani spinners, with Shadab Khan taking two wickets for 26 runs and Tariq adding three more to restrict their opponents to 158-8 in 20 overs. The win marked Pakistan’s second consecutive victory after a close match against the Netherlands on Saturday.

For the USA, Shubham Ranjane top-scored with 51 runs off 30 balls, including three sixes and four fours. Opener Shayan Jahangir also made an attractive contribution of 49 runs off 34 balls. Pakistan’s skipper Salman Agha was dismissed for one run in the sixth over.

The win avenged Pakistan’s earlier defeat to the USA and marked a significant improvement in their form.
