New Zealand Pace Bowler Matt Henry Takes Five Wickets in Morning Session to Secure 253-Run Victory
In the second Test at The Oval, New Zealand pace bowler Matt Henry delivered a dominant performance to help his side level the series against England. Starting the fifth day on 182-5, chasing a target of 463 for an unlikely victory, England’s batting attack was quickly dismantled.
Henry took all five wickets in the morning session, removing Joe Root (77) with the first ball of his second over, followed by Jofra Archer (0), Matthew Fisher (0), and Josh Tongue (0). The final wicket fell to Jordan Cox, who was bowled on an in-swinging yorker.
England’s innings lasted less than an hour, with a total score of 209. This victory marks New Zealand’s first win in the series, leveling it at 1-1. Henry’s impressive performance has taken his match haul to 11 wickets.
The loss marks England’s sixth defeat in their last eight Tests. The series decider will be held next week at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
