Kabul Hospital Air Strike Leaves Multiple Bodies Recovered by Rescue Teams

Rescue Teams Recover Bodies from Demolished Kabul Hospital After Overnight Air Strike

Multiple bodies have been recovered from the rubble of a demolished Kabul drug rehabilitation hospital following an overnight air strike that resulted in over 400 deaths, according to officials. The attack is part of a recent escalation in conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

According to Pakistani officials, Monday’s operations targeted only military installations in eastern Afghanistan. However, Afghan government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid condemned the strike, stating that it was “targeting hospitals and civilian sites to perpetrate horrors.” He emphasized that those killed were “innocent civilians and addicts.”

Rescue worker Allah Mohammad Farooq reported that hundreds of people were killed in the attack. “When we arrived here, everyone was buried under the rubble,” he said. “We then used a crane to pull them out. Most of the people were dead, and many are still trapped under the debris.”

The conflict has intensified through repeated border skirmishes and air strikes within Afghanistan, despite international calls for a ceasefire. The latest attack came just hours after Afghan officials reported border clashes that killed four people in Afghanistan.

Multiple local hospitals received injured individuals from the attack, with crowds of people searching for family members. Independent confirmation of casualty figures remains impossible. A UN human rights expert in Afghanistan, Richard Bennet, expressed dismay over the reports and urged parties to de-escalate and respect international law.
