Israel Launches Missile Attack on Tehran, Iran

A missile attack was reported in downtown Tehran, with multiple explosions heard in the city. According to Fars news agency, several missiles struck University Street and the Jomhouri area. Witnesses described seeing smoke rising from the city.

The Israeli military issued a “proactive alert” to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched towards Israel. The Airports Authority announced that all civilian flights had been closed due to airspace restrictions.

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, stated that the attack was carried out in order to preemptively remove threats to the State of Israel. The location of the strike near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also been reported by the Associated Press news agency.

Sirens sounded in Israel as a result of the alert issued by the military. The public is advised not to approach the airport due to airspace restrictions.
