Islamabad Mosque Blast Leaves at Least 24 Dead and Over 100 Injured

Rescue teams arrive on scene after blast at Shia mosque in Pakistani capital’s Tarlai Kalan area during Friday prayers.

A blast occurred at the Khadija Tul Kubra mosque in Islamabad’s Tarlai Kalan area, resulting in significant loss of life and injury. According to local officials, at least 31 people have been confirmed dead, while over 100 others were injured. The explosion took place during Friday prayers.

Rescue teams responded to the incident, transferring 169 individuals to a hospital for treatment. Islamabad police spokesperson Taqi Jawad stated that the cause of the blast remains under investigation.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif released a statement expressing his condolences following the incident. In a separate report from November last year, a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the entrance of the Islamabad District Judicial Complex, resulting in 12 fatalities and numerous injuries.
