ICE Killing in Minneapolis Sparks Nationwide Protests Across the Country

Protesters Gather Across the US to Demand Justice for Renee Nicole Good

Hundreds of demonstrations were held across several US states on Saturday, as protesters gathered to demand justice for Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three who was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and protests against the Trump administration’s militarized anti-immigration push.

Indivisible, a social movement group, reported that hundreds of demonstrations were scheduled in Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Ohio, Florida, and other states. Protesters gathered to mourn the lives lost and demand justice for Good, who was killed on Wednesday after allegedly “weaponizing” her vehicle and threatening the life of the ICE officer.

Video footage from the scene showed Good attempting to drive away before being shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross. The incident has renewed scrutiny of Trump’s push to deploy heavily armed law enforcement officers to carry out an anti-immigrant crackdown across the US.

Many of Saturday’s protests were dubbed “ICE Out for Good,” with organizers calling for an end to deadly terror on the streets and demanding justice and accountability. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey reported that 29 people had been arrested overnight as police responded to continued protests, while Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that one police officer was injured during the protest response.

Three US lawmakers representing Minnesota attempted to tour an ICE facility in the Minneapolis federal building on Saturday morning but were told to leave after initially being allowed to enter. The incident has sparked calls for transparency and oversight of ICE operations, with some lawmakers accusing agents of obstructing their duties.
