Gunmen kill over 30 in Nigerias Kwara State, authorities confirm

Village Attack in Nigeria’s Kwara State Leaves Multiple Dead

At least 35 people have been killed in an attack on a remote village in Nigeria’s north-central Kwara State, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred in Woro, a village bordering Niger State.

According to local lawmaker Sa’idu Baba Ahmed, the bodies of 35 to 40 individuals were counted at the scene. Many others escaped into the surrounding bushland with gunshot wounds, and additional bodies may be found.

The attack is reported to have been the deadliest incident in the district this year. The village was targeted by armed men, who set fire to homes and shops. Villagers fled to safety as the attackers moved through the area.

Police have confirmed the attack, but did not provide a casualty figure. The state government has attributed the assault to “terrorist cells.” Banditry and armed attacks on rural communities have increased in recent years across northwest and north-central Nigeria.

The incident is part of a broader trend of gang activity in the region, where villages are targeted for raids, kidnappings, and livestock thefts.
