Gaza Residents Use Eid Celebrations as Form of Resistance Against Israeli Occupation

Six Killed in Gaza Neighborhood During Eid Celebrations

A shooting incident occurred in the Remal neighborhood of Gaza City during Eid celebrations last night. The incident resulted in the deaths of six people, according to reports.

The area has been designated a “red zone” under Israeli control since the war. As a result, livestock farms were largely destroyed, and only a small number of sheep survived due to the Israeli blockade, which prohibits the entry of livestock into the Gaza Strip since October 2023. This has led to significant price increases for goods associated with Eid celebrations.

The incident occurred at around midnight, shortly after the stalls reopened. Witnesses reported seeing shoppers running away from the area as rockets hit nearby buildings. The sound of aircraft was also heard overhead.

Eyewitness accounts describe a chaotic scene with people screaming and crying as they fled the market. Some were seen carrying bags and trying to find their loved ones. A mother was reportedly seen embracing her child, saying that her husband and children were in one of the affected buildings.

The Israeli military has confirmed that six people were killed and 20 were injured in the attacks on the Remal neighborhood. The incident is ongoing, with reports of further explosions occurring minutes after the initial incident.

The Gaza Strip has been under a blockade since October 2023, which has had significant effects on the local economy and population. The area is densely populated, making it difficult for people to move around during Eid celebrations.

The incident highlights the ongoing tensions in the region and the risks faced by civilians in areas designated as “red zones”.
