Floridas US Attorney General Pam Bondi Subpoenaed in Congressional Epstein Probe

US Congress Subpoenas Attorney General Pam Bondi to Testify on Epstein Files Transparency Act Compliance

A subcommittee in the US Congress has issued a subpoena to Attorney General Pam Bondi, requiring her to testify in a closed-door hearing on April 14. The subpoena was approved by the House Oversight Committee earlier this month. In the letter, committee chair James Comer stated that Bondi would be required to provide a sworn deposition regarding the Department of Justice’s handling of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and its compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Bondi will be questioned about her oversight of the Department of Justice’s collection, review, and determinations related to the release of files pursuant to the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The committee believes that Bondi possesses valuable insight into these efforts.

The Department of Justice has yet to comment on the latest request. Bondi previously testified before the House Judiciary Committee in February, where lawmakers questioned her handling of the Epstein files during the Trump administration. In an interview at that time, she stated that Epstein’s “client list” was “sitting on my desk right now”. However, she later clarified that no such list existed.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act was passed by Congress in November to compel the Trump administration to release the entire federal case file related to Epstein. The law allows for limited redactions to protect victim identities. Lawmakers have raised concerns about excessive redactions and missed deadlines for releasing the files.

Bondi will be required to answer questions under oath regarding her role in overseeing the Department of Justice’s handling of the Epstein investigation and its compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
