Multiple attacks have occurred across Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, resulting in the deaths of at least eight policemen. The incidents began at approximately 3am local time (01:00 GMT) on Sunday and targeted several police stations in Quetta, the provincial capital.
According to officials, the attacks were carried out by alleged ethnic Baloch gunmen, who also claimed responsibility for the assault. The security official stated that the coordinated gun and suicide attacks took place primarily in Quetta, Pasni, Mastung, Nushki, and Gwadar districts.
The Pakistani government has not commented on the claims made by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which is believed to be behind the attacks. However, officials have confirmed that some members of the security forces were abducted during the incident.
As a result of the attacks, internet services have been suspended, and a security operation is currently underway. Train services have also been halted. The military had previously reported killing 41 armed fighters in two separate operations in Balochistan on Saturday.
