At least 14 Dead in Migrant Boat Crash Off Turkish Coast

Turkish Coast Guard Reports Incident Involving Migrant Boat

A collision occurred on Monday between an inflatable boat carrying migrants or refugees and a Turkish coastguard vessel off the coast of Antalya province’s Finike district in southwestern Turkey.

According to the coastguard, the incident took place early in the morning. The high-speed boat was detected by authorities, who issued repeated warnings for it to stop. Despite these warnings, the boat attempted to flee.

The coastguard vessel then came into contact with the inflatable boat, resulting in a collision. As a result, 14 people were found deceased and 15 individuals were taken into custody after continuing to navigate their boat until reaching land.

Six migrants and one Turkish national were rescued from the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated by authorities.
