Armed men confronted F1 driver Doohan in Miami following death threats

Australian Formula One driver Jack Doohan has revealed that he received death threats via email before being dropped by his team, Alpine, during the 2025 season.

In an interview for the latest series of Netflix documentary “Drive To Survive,” which was released on Friday, Doohan described the atmosphere surrounding his final race with Alpine as “heavy.” He stated that he had received serious threats, including emails claiming that his limbs would be cut off if he remained in the car beyond the Miami Grand Prix.

Doohan also reported an incident where he encountered three individuals who appeared to be armed. In this situation, he contacted his police escort for assistance and did not specify how the incident was resolved or identify anyone responsible.

Following Doohan’s departure from Alpine, which occurred after the sixth race of 2025, he posted on social media that he and his family had been subjected to online abuse. He suggested at the time that fans from Argentina, where his replacement Franco Colapinto is from, were responsible for the harassment.

Doohan currently serves as a reserve driver for Haas.
