Nigeria to Face Uganda in CAF Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16
The Super Eagles, representing Nigeria, will face Uganda in their final group fixture on Tuesday, December 30, at 5pm GMT, in the Fez Stadium, Morocco. The match is part of the ongoing CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Nigeria has already secured a spot in the last 16 and is aiming for a 100 percent record. They have won two out of their three group games, with their only loss coming against Tunisia. Uganda, on the other hand, must win the match to keep their tournament hopes alive.
The teams will meet at the Fez Stadium, where Nigeria has previously played in their group stage matches. The fixture carries little consequence for Nigeria but is a crucial one for Uganda.
In terms of standings, Nigeria leads Group C with six points, followed by Tunisia with three points. Tanzania and Uganda are third and fourth respectively, both with one point each. The top two teams from each group, along with the best four third-place teams, will advance to the round of 16.
Nigeria’s next match will be against a team from Group A, B, or F on January 5. The Super Eagles have been performing well in the tournament, with standout players including Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, and Alex Iwobi. Uganda’s key player is Allan Okello, who has been instrumental in their matches.
The teams have a history of competition against each other, having played eight times in total, including in friendly games.
