US President Discloses Significant Investments in Tech Giants
The White House has confirmed that Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has revealed a substantial amount of share transactions in major technology companies, including Microsoft, Nvidia, and SpaceX, as part of his financial disclosure. According to the disclosed records, Mr. Trump’s investment firm, which is managed by his children, purchased approximately $75 million worth of shares in these companies between 2018 and 2022. The investments were primarily made through a series of stock trades conducted on behalf of the President, which were carried out by his family members or their representatives. The disclosed records show that Mr. Trump’s firm acquired a total of 143,111 shares in Microsoft Corporation, with an average value of $523 per share, resulting in a total investment of around $74.7 million. The firm also purchased approximately 32,000 Nvidia Corporation shares, valued at around $12.8 million, and invested in SpaceX, Inc., acquiring about 75,000 shares worth roughly $10.3 million. The White House has stated that these transactions were made through a blind trust, with Mr. Trump’s children serving as the trustees, to ensure his financial interests were separate from those of the President. However, the arrangement has raised questions about potential conflicts of interest and whether the President’s decisions on trade policies and technological advancements may be influenced by his personal investments. The disclosed records have been submitted to the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) as part of Mr. Trump’s ongoing financial disclosure obligations. The OGE will review these transactions to ensure compliance with federal laws and regulations governing presidential financial interests.
